Google Co-Op Search Button Problem

I am using Google Co-op personalized search on my website, and I like it a lot. Problem is that when I put the code onto my site, it is a bit messed up. The "search" button shows up as a long, blank white rectangle with "search" centered in the middle, when it is supposed to have the grey background and sharp look of a regular Google "search" button.

Any ideas? I also notice that I can't change the size of the search input box, either. It just stays the same width no matter how I change it in the code (although the Google watermark shows up just fine). Is my website not allowing the script to format properly or what? I've tried everything I can think of.
