Google Chrome - So What Do You Think?

Discussion in 'Google' started by ArticlesFYI, Oct 8, 2008.

I've been reading Matt Cuts Chrome Is Great posts and I'm wondering what others think about the big G's new browser. Personally I like it, although it does seem to be a loose replica of Safari, which is a compliment.

    Any thoughts?

The first version had some VERY well documented security flaws... I think they are moving in a good direction. There is a big question as to how long Google will commit to this - there have been alot of Google projects that have fallen by the wayside over time...

If they can keep up good development for another year - it will be a decent contender - but right now it is not really there yet.

Aside from the security issues I thing google chrome is a great browser
it allows the user to surf the web at high speed, after firefox google chrome
is my next favorite browser, I think google will definitely improve on this
    browser in the future.

    Thanks for the themes link.

In answer to the OP, not a lot!

I do not understand all this talk of it being fast. In comparison to FF and Opera it is oh, so SLOW!
The interface is awful! Looks like it was designed by and for a 5 year old. The alternative "themes" curently available (as above) are not much better.
I don't like the fact you cannot block 3rd party cookies (I know there is a "restriction" setting but my understanding is that only blocks "secondary requests", the initial info is sent but nothing subsequently.)
It is annoying there is no default to clear history on closing and you have to do it manually every time.
A default "incognito" option would be welcome.
Okay, it has a couple of nice gimmicks but I have yet to find a need for them and otherwise, I do not see it does anything of real importance that other browsers do not do better or faster.

That is probably the idea behind it but I think those of us who care (or, are even aware?) are in the minority.

    Try installing chromeprivacyguard, that helps.

Only thing it's missing for me is the old familiar Firefox plugins. That's why I still use Firefox.

Google chrome is fast. Though I haven't shifted myself completely from using firefox. Google chrome is still the secondary choice as this lacks lots of features in firefox as of now. Hope that Google will address everything in a short while.

Chrome is fading away as fast as it has appeared. Once the novelty has gone, people are going back to their Firefox. I got too many good plug-ins in Firefox that I use daily that I cannot move to another browser unless they comes with it.

I still prefer FF, Chrome is looking too simple and I don`t like the fact that information can be stored.

I totally agree. I still use firefox which I'm still ultimately pleased with. But if Chrome can fix some of its errors and more importantly give me access to my firefox plugins, I can definitely see myself moving to CHrome
