hi everyone what do you think about the new announced development of Google, the Chrome OS going to launch in 2010? it is specially made for the people who work mostly on web with the following features: faster in speed and security all applications are based on Chrome it automatically updates itself for new installations and management of applications on it works only from internet made to run on specifically designed hardware does not support any additional installations ideal for people working on webs mostly more security, faster results, more Google features support what do you say about it?
It kind of reminds me of the thin client concept, I wonder what their hardware is going to look like and is they are going to use flash or solid state drives? Cloud computing here we come!
yeah..you are right, Chrome OS is not going to include any additional installations and features other than web applications. it has excluded all un-necessary features to speed-up the operating system.
but a draw-back of this operating system which i am seeing is that it will only work with web applications efficiently, not suitable to any other users, and work only with internet connection. but the bright side is, obviously, speed and security for web browsing
as all of its applications are web-based, so it is not much supportive to offline work (like other applications) anybody else knows more about it, plz share.
Google Chrome extensions – A mini Chrome OS Well well, Do you think Google doing to become a 1st brand or Software Technology company in the World ? With famous search engineer, Google was launch Search, Mail, Maps, Translate and Video (Youtube). Really a lot of Internet services and with a database of giant, I think next 2 – 5 years, Google is biggest company surpassed Microsoft, IBM or Yahoo … With the Google Chrome OS will launch, Google is launched already Google Chrome extensions – The massive plugins for the Chrome, the baby will make more money and brand for OS will duel power with Microsoft Go to Google Chrome extensions, You will surprise with, I think about ~ 500 plugins for users, for your Chrome Browse. It will make your Google Chrome (not OS) become a Mini Google Chrome OS (a lovely name for Chrome). It will control all of Google and other services. With only this plugins, Turn on many browse with many tab is unreliable. While using Internet, we could check how is status on our services (Mail, Reader, Maps …) with only Chrome. Yes! Google launch Chrome extensions is a good news for today, against Microsoft OS, Search Engineer and Browse (Internet Explore 8/Windows 7/Vista and Bing), but It’s a bad news for Firefox, Opera, Safari …From: http://www.tuananhblog.com/google-chrome-extensions/ Code (markup):
Yeah, its not bad. I am typing this on it now... I have a USB boot-able version. Its a bit buggy at the moment, but that's to be expected. Extensions seem to work OK. Once the final version is out, I would expect it to have some offline functionality like video, music word processing etc. Even at this early stage, it boots in around 15-17 seconds. You can get a USB boot-able copy from http://chromeos.hexxeh.net/ Cheers James
There will be several other things friends, Google is already like a master and dictating terms(it has its advantages and disadvantages)So it might try to capture the whole market or try to dictate terms to small or competing firms.
This is an excellent innovation to the consumer. It makes net-books far faster, more powerful, more affordable and reliable, while not threatening anyone (This is Google, not MS!). "made to run on specifically designed hardware" I don't think this is correct. IN fact it appears to be a misinterpretation of this: "Chrome OS is only shipping on specific hardware from manufacturers Google has partnered with." (http://www.wired.com/gadgetlab/2009/11/google-chrome-os-ditch-your-hard-drives-the-future-is-the-web/) That contradicts this: "Google Chrome OS will run on both x86 as well as ARM chips and we are working with multiple OEMs to bring a number of netbooks to market next year. The software architecture is simple — Google Chrome running within a new windowing system on top of a Linux kernel. For application developers, the web is the platform. All web-based applications will automatically work and new applications can be written using your favorite web technologies. And of course, these apps will run not only on Google Chrome OS, but on any standards-based browser on Windows, Mac and Linux thereby giving developers the largest user base of any platform."
