ChromeOS will run the NX windowing system. It might also run Native Client. If this OS runs Native Client, Microsoft and Windows are doomed.
Honestly all google chrome OS will be is a pimped up version of linux with some handy intergration with google's search. The big factor for success of google chrome OS will be whether it can get backing from gaming companies and get them to start making games on their platform as well as windows. Then you might start to see a shift in power, until then i think its all just media hype and google wont touch windows.
Since Linux is a far more advanced operating system than Windows, that would be a good thing. Native Client, which I mention above, would allow anyone to run their own programs and data from any computer anywhere in the world, as well as access one of their own computers at native speeds. Imagine having a notebook, where you don't have OpenOffice installed, but you do have it on your home computer. You just call up that system and run OO on your notebook as if it was your own. (*nix users have had the ability to do this for decades. Securely, too) Corporations and businesses do not allow games. Only average users treat their computers like a XBox. I think they should just get a XBox and stay away from the computer. In a way, that's already happening as more of them use their phones for any non-game needs.
I don't think so. It is still a Linux platform as the windowing system is run on top of a Linux kernel. And by far, Linux users are nothing compare to Windows users. Microsoft has establish a good position in the OS industry for so many years. So it need something extraordinary to take the top position from them. - Dynashox -
I do not think it will beat windows but it will certainly give it a lot of competion. I think google knows what they are doing
I'm still sceptic of it all... i mean after their first attempts with android, with that mishap where someone sending a text message containing the word 'restart', would restart the phone... I bet it's bound to be riddled with bugs when they release it...
Well, Microsoft has been in the OS business for many years... Microsoft actually has the bigger pie compared to other OS like linux, Mac OS, etc. So, I don't think people will use Google Chrome OS right away, old habits die hard.
Well guys, the discussion going on here is very impressive and acknowledged. From my point of view I think Google chrome will be a successful OS, as thousands of people are looking forward to it. Google chrome will ofcourse bring out something much better than windows because they know what they are doing and they have to beat Windows OP and also that LINUX one. As lhrowley said that google is a brand name which will be promoted by the users. People will switch to google and if they have done something great than microsoft the king of OS yet will loose their market and will be in competition thn. I am curiously waiting for google chrome, now lets see what they are up to till thn FINGER CROSSED!!! Cheers! Many Thanks, Sheikh Ahsan
I havent gone through it yet but waiting for it. Lets see! If you have any of the version (must b beta) thn u must b knwing better thn me! Thanks for sharing! Peace out!
Linux is based on Unix which has been around decades longer than Windows and Microsoft. ChromeOS is based on Linux so think about it.
From what i've been reading.. Microsoft is going helter skelter in trying to come up with a good enough counter to try and beat Google But the thing is MS cant and they know it
No I think it can't... That is my opinion... We all know that Google is the king of SE and Windows for the OS. So I think Google Crome OS can never compete the Windows OS cos a lot of people have tried Windows for so many years....
Dude, Look at what google's doing everything is supported in your email plus everything else is being added at the moment, can you imagine where google will be in the next 5 years? Hwo do you expect google NOT to crush microsoft
if it's like their other products, that work fast and are great overall i think in time it can overtake microsoft. hope they won't have blue screens
