Google, China and Iran - A question of moral values?

Im not sure I understand Googles standards. It retracts is service out of the
Chinese market because of allegations of Government backed hacking into the GMAIL accounts of political activists etc yet fights to stay in the Iranian market which switches Google on and off at will...see here: http://www.news.com.au/adelaidenow/story/0,22606,22434601-5005962,00.html

On occasions the Iranian government has banned the use of the search engine and the GMAIL service. The reason is obvious as it wants to filter results in order to keep sexual or political information away from its users. The thing that gets me is when Iran bans Google, Google then puts pressure on the Government to re-instate the service which takes approx 24 hours to be made available again. Reports of hacking by the government of Iran are not uncommon in Iran..please see http://techgeist.net/2009/08/iran-hacking-citizens-email-accounts/.

My question.....why does Google fight to stay in the Iranian market yet pull out at the drop of a hat from the worlds biggest market China?

Just for reference...I am against denying the Chinese AND Iranian people the right to use Google.

google has not ceased or stopped operation in China.. they just uncensored some of the content in defiance of Chinese laws... that is in reaction to google's allegation that google's operation being hacked... but my bet is that this will become a non-event.. there will be some compromise from both sides... in a matter a weeks.

google has not taken action in Iran is because there are not as many internet users in Iran .. so one way or the other ..

As China is the biggest market in the world I doubt very much that Google will let China go......

As Google has less market share in China, it can pull out from this territory any time.
