Google Checkout - Feedback

    Hi,

Could you guys provide feedback on the Google Checkout - regarding their chargeback policies.

I understand that they use their systems to filter out suspicious transactions etc. You see I am moving away from Paypal due to the large number of chargeback disputes a buyer can raise and win.

So are Google a soft touch when it comes to chargebacks? Have you noticed if the number of chargebacks have gone up/down since using Google Checkout?

    Any help is appreciated.

Thanks the article was interesting, yet I am still in two minds whether or not to use Google Checkout. They seem to be unbiased when it comes to a dispute as opposed to Paypal, but Moneybookers seem to appeal more to me as they do not allow chargebacks to hit the seller. Apparently they absorb the chargebacks, in this day and age sellers are hit with ridiculous chargebacks with excuses including unathorised use of a buyers card.

I need to use a payment processor which will shield me as much as possible from chargebacks, I am selling products with values of $50 and upwards - once I send out a merchandise there is no way for me to have the product returned once a chargeback dispute is raised.

Chargebacks are typically very small issues when the product arrives as described; PayPal is still your best bet.

Unfortunately, that has not been the case with me. I have had two chargebacks - both were for 'unathorised use of the buyers account'.

Google checkout apparently filters potential fraud is this effective?

My choices are Paypal or Google Checkout or Moneybookers

The problem isn't PayPal when it comes to chargebacks I don't think. They can't do anything to stop the Credit Card company from doing the chargeback can they? Or am I missing something here?

When Verified by Visa / MasterCard SecureCode comes into play with PayPal, the amount of chargebacks will drop significantly I feel. Infact, NoChex has already implemented it.

Unless the buyer lies. Then, he wins. Try it. Buy something with a CC, get the item and chargeback. It works everytime, because your bank will protect you (not knowing you actually lied) and Paypal will tell the seller there's nothing they can do...You get the item AND money back...Works everytime...
Even if the seller fax copies of tracking proof...I gurantee it....

The problem I got with G checkout was their wide policy. I can't sell a various number of item...
