First post here I only started using Adsense a month ago; I wanted a way to supplement the hosting costs of my website so I signed up and dropped the code onto the pages I wanted to display ads. So far I've had 169,533 page views with a 0.5% click through rate. I've no idea if this is good or bad but my account stands at $xxx which is fine by me and was looking forward to the end of the month and the possibility of a cheque. Then out of the blue (and not mentioned in the T+C I agreed to) Google left a message on my Adsense admin page saying that I could not recieve payment until I entered a PIN number. This they claim has been sent to my home address. It's now two weeks down the line and I have no PIN number and of course have missed the February payment cycle. I emailed Google and they sent this reply: "To continue using AdSense, you must enter your PIN by: Feb 22, 2006 You can request a new PIN on or after: Mar 8, 2005" Now I'm a pretty easy going guy but this seems like a case of moving goal posts to me and I'm wondering if I will ever get paid? Has anyone here actually recieved a PIN number (I'm in the UK) and gone on to get a cheque? I've done everything by the book and don't see why Google feels the need to change the rules just when I should have been getting paid. To say I'm dissapointed is an understatement and I'm tempted to just the pull the plug on the ads unless someone can convince me its worth all the hassle Regards, BP
Hmmm. I also never heard of this PIN (except one mention on WW forum, where nobody knew what it was either). I am still awaiting my first cheque as well. Still, google is known to pay so in the end you should see for yourself if you want the hassle or not. (for the sum you mentioned I sure as hell would.)
Did you give Google your social security number or tax ID when you signed up? I am in US. Google has my social security number. I got my check every month without any problems.
Hi, I'm in the UK and a private individual so I just gave the information they asked for; name, address etc. I'm quite happy with the ads themselves and unlike a very brief foray with bidvertiser they are usually relevant to the page content (its important to me that any adverts are of interest to my forum visitors). However this PIN number business is pretty damn annoying and if it doesn't turn up then its unlikely I will ever get paid I guess I can wait a few more weeks to see if they keep their original promise... Cheers, BP www.vinylengine.com
Blaim it on Royal Mail I'd say: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/talking_point/3682973.stm The muppets loose 14.4 million items a year. Request a new PIN and try again.
I have noticed it has been really bad recently. They made a huge profit last year probably due to the fact anyone sending money or cheques sends it recorded delivery, signed for, insured for, rubber stamped for, padlocked, laser alarmed, satelite monitored which costs a fair penny.
Hi everybody, I'm new here too. blackpudding, I also live outside of the US and have problems to get my checks, but I have to say that google do pay. The first check that they sent me got lost two times (the postal system here in my country is not very reliable indeed). The check was for january earnings and when I didn't received it in a few weeks after it should have arrived I sent them an email to cancel the check and send it again. Then I opened a PO box to receive my US correspondence. They made the check and sent it again, and it got lost again. I canceled it again and they sent it yet again. I finally received my check by august. So I must say that you should not worry because they do pay, not fast but they pay.
A bit off topic, but you need to make sure you don't mention your earnings. It is against google's TOS and you could get in trouble for it. good luck with your issue though.
lol Wendy I've given up telling people that! People only do it once anyway. I think the rule is in place to basically stop anyone from taking a lawsuit against Google if there are any moneys missing from a persons account if someone clicks on their adverts. Google can just turn round and say "How would you know if there are any moneys missing?" and of course you have broken the TOS to know that you are missing income. Welcome to the forums webbom. How about making a introduction thread in General Chat?
yeah that is a good point. I just know that google can be cranky and i would hate to see honest people get in trouble because of something so minor. Their TOS can be quite annoying to read back to on topic, i'm in the US, is the PIN only a non US thing?
Ya it's kinda funny how people don't realize G's TOS. There are so many times I would love to layout my statistics with others that actually make a living at this...just to compare notes . Especially lately
I'd better go back and take another look at the T+C, I'm probably breaking a rule even mentioning the PIN... As for the Royal Mail, in the last year I've posted 140+ CD's, 50% to the UK and the rest to Europe, USA, Japan, Taiwan and Australia. All where sent Royal Mail and all got to their destinations within a few days. In the same time I have had missing letters to my mortgage company, others in relation to an insurance claim and now the PIN from Google. Its funny how the only letters going missing are the ones that benefit me? Just a thought. Cheers. BP
I'm in the UK and didn't get a PIN either. It sounds like it's just individuals. As soon as you gave them your VAT registration and company number then they trust you I guess. And yeah, copy that BP; RM has a selective way of loosing stuff indeed. Not a good thing with identity theft on the increase.
When mail goes missing its usually because it's the postman delivering it to your door who either steals the mail or throws it away somewhere because he can't be bothered delivering it.
Don't get me started on them... and it's not just the trotskyists on the shop floor; Adam Crozier, formerly of the FA, got a £57K bonus when he'd only been CEO of the Royal Mail for just 2 months !!
Maybe, but in my experience its usually not lost at all and the company you are dealing with is simply fobbing you off. The insurance company I was dealing with last year claimed that all the correspondence I had sent had been lost in the mail. That is until I pointed out by phone that the last 3 letters had been sent recorded delivery and that they had signed for them! Miraculously the 'lost' mail turned up within 30 minutes. It took over 4 months in the end to get a payout from the company for a simple non-contested claim against their client; for the paltry sum involved I am sure that many people would have just given up and written it off. As for the PIN number from Google; this may or may not turn up but I have managed to get nothing but set responses from Google regarding it. I will definately not be getting a payment for some time to come and with all the tales of 'lost' cheques I've heard around the web I suspect the postal services may not be the problem? Or I may be completely wrong and Google will sort it all out and pay me whats due Cheers, BP
I was in the UK and using adsense about a year ago, they sent me a PIN in about a week and everything went smoothly. I did get a cheque once... (site wasn't too big ) That was as an individual.
