The whole EMDs are not nearly as good as they used to be. I feel bad for people that invested money into these in the past but kinda got screwed after the changes.
That's not a new change, they did that on the main google site about 4 months ago, maybe they are just deploying it to their other search engines. What I did is register new domain names.
