Google can't find robots.txt on my website

I cant find robots.txt in my server and when i type in mywebsite.com/robots.txt it comes with a code 404. What do i do, do i create a new robots.txt file?

 

if you get a 404 then simply your robots.txt is missing
or
was never created by YOU

hence make one
or if u had one
re-upload your backup

 

How do i create one, i thought that Google already creates the file for me.

 

I went to robotstxt.org but it seems complicated, don't want to jump ahead

try sitemapbuilder.net is the best we use it too you can create both xml and txt sitemaps. let us know if you have any question.

don't submit sitemap.txt to google

- submit sitemap.xml to google

sitemap.txt to yahoo and live.com

 

shivam, media needs to create robots.txt and not sitemap.xml.
