To be honest it is in part Google's fault that the amount of spam websites has increased. Although Google is a decent search engine, their advertising programs have given people huge incentives to create bogus content. It used to be that to get a lot of traffic you had to have a really good word of mouth rep, but now all you need is a high search engine ranking, you don't have to depend on return visitors. And to rank high in google you have to follow their algorithm instead of the other way around. The bottom line is that a search engine has its' benefits, but other forms of sifting through data are useful too.
Well it is hard to believe from a man whose share price has halved since the beginning of the year and u wonder if this is just blame pushing on his side. The internet is not owned by anyone anyway and everyone loves it.
I totally understand he is being honest, but should talk about a solution better than complaining in public !
