Google cache

    Hi guys,
I have just noticed that all web pages in Google cache seem to be from the 18th of April or older. Popular sites like Hotmail, MSN, Adobe etc. are cached every day (even multiple times in a day) but even these are only showing a cache from the 18th or a previous date. A few updates ago, I noticed that only pages that were added to my website and cached by Google until around 4 weeks before an update were affected by the update.

It is obvious that Google will need a stable cache when calculating PR as they wouldn't want the cache to update and change while they are in the process of calculating PR. For this reason, it is possible that a Google update (real PR not toolbar) might be on it's way within 4 weeks (by mid-May). Thinking from a webmaster's point of view, it is also possible that the cache will be backed up to another location and then PR calculated on this backup. Once PR has been calculated on this backup and applied, this backup would then overwrite the datacentres one by one. This all also fits it with the fact that all datacentres are not updated at the same time.

So, imo you should be seeing some interesting changes in your SERPs in 2 to 4 weeks. IMO, this will only affect your pages that were cached by Google until last week. Also, for the PR calculations only the links that have been cached by Google until last week will count. Toolbar would probably remain the same (might change too, don't know). I wonder what they are up to with this update?

An update within a month of the previous one? I doubt it. But yeah the google cache has been showing 18th April and older cache only, according to my observation too.
The SERPS have never actually stabilized except for the top 10 rankings. I have been keeping track of a very competitive keyword and I have been jumping from #13 to #29 this week. (On all DC's)

Well actually, the last update that you are mentioning here (From early April) only seemed to be a toolbar update. I am talking about the real thing here! :D Toolbar updates cause more stir in forums but do nothing for the SERPs

SERPs change all the time as their are dozens of factors that affect SERPs apart from PR. It's just that Google updates cause major shifts in SERPs. These can be quite easy to spot by webmasters who have a new site that suddenly gets out there or old webmasters who suddenly disappear off the charts! :D Otherwise, it's quite hard to spot PR updates.

Search Engine Results Page always change because PR, backlinks and other factors are always updated except for algorithm.

Im getting confused sorry but I think this is better:confused:

Backlink transfer is the right term when you see that your links in G (link:mydomain.com) has been updated (increase or decrease).

PR transfer is the right term when you mean or see that pr on many site increases or decreases...

Yes, I have noticed this too. Also, when checking my SERPs I noticed that some sites have a date next to the Cache date, which all seem to be from April 22 and newer.

    Such as:

    www.website.com/ - 14k - Apr 22, 2006 - Cached - Similar pages - Remove result

Maybe G is reindexing the index since the BD infrastructure is now (supposedly) complete.

I only see this on a few search results, all the rest have cache dates from prior to April 18.

Also, I resubmitted my sitemap and it has been over 9 hours and it still hasn't been downloaded! It usually only takes a couple or so hours, so I just think that's kinda odd.
