I can't see Twitter being very popular for a whole lot longer unless they add more functionality than what's currently there. I think it's success is very much due to novelty, and now that larger sites like FB and MySpace have started putting more weight on Status Update feeds I can't see it being as insanely popular as it is forever.

I think Facebook was the first site to have a 'Status Update' along the same lines as Twitter, and now they've added live ajax functionality a la Twitter and it's just cool... The great thing about like.. Facebook is that you are also sharing news about yourself with your Friends based on where you go and what you do on the site automatically, versus manually typing in messages, which you of course also have the option to do there

So, no I think it would be a bad investment... But only time will tell. In the meantime Twitter sure is useful now YOu can follow me here: http://twitter.com/AppsRUs
