Read in the news today that Google is seriously considering buying Twitter. They already have Blogger, now they also want Twitter? I wonder what are they going to called if after? Twigle? GooTwit? Microsoft, hello? Are you still in the game? http://www.vnunet.com/vnunet/news/2239787/google-close-buying-twitter
What would they do with Twitter?, I used (still do) to think twitter is for people with the wrong brains. I never use it.
I thought so too when I first read it. Well, it comes to Google they pretty serious. Just look at what they acquire over the past years... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_acquisitions_by_Google
It is very clear that google wants to expand very rapidly, and so it would take even an inorganic route just like it did in the past... Wonder, which one is the next target...Can it be DP? Regards, RightMan
It wouldn't matter much... except that there would be a few ads on Twitter. Here is TechCrunch's take on this whole proposed acquisition
If Google did acquire Twitter, I don't see Twitter being rebranded as things like GooTwit etc. I think they will leave the name the same (like YouTube) and just find a way to monetize it. Perhaps adding sponsored listings in the search, or perhaps 'sponsored tweets' I really have no idea (and I don't think Twitter does either!)
As ads2help said Google's going to conquer the Internet. Heck, I read somewhere that Google owns a lot of domains. About 500 domains if I remember correctly.
great for google, not so great for twitter users.(maybe) great for twitters back end systems - think they will be on googles in'structure
