Google buying eBay.

I believe that eBay will be a good target acquisition for Google. Why?

Well Google manifest is to organize and provide the world for information. In other words provide result on whatever people are looking for. But also Google needs to make money. If Google acquires eBay it will also require Craigslist, Rent.Com, Paypal, Skype and many more eBay divisions. eBay will provide Google with more key search options. Auction (items for sale) search, Apartments and property listings, Online classifieds, Payment gateway, and communications tools among others as well as a bit of diversification. But Google may not only benefits from revenues generated on eBay commission but on ads it will serve to the millions of eBay visitors each day and that currently are served by Yahoo. Seller may also benefits as Google may go and lower commissions in order to increase listing and traffic that will be ad served. I think eBay will be the best target for Google.

I don’t know, this doesn’t seem like a very good option for Google. But the way things are going who knows.

eBay isn't selling as cheaply as MySpace or YouTube, it would go for tens of billions (if not hundreds of billions) of dollars and I'm not sure if Google is willing to put that much out there (at one time), even though eBay is a sound investment.

I wouldn't say its totally out of the question, because I believe investors would like to see such a move. It would make Google a much more powerful company.

If Google was to buy Ebay their dominance will definately be unchallenged by any other competitor if there are any. Google will forever become a leading and driving force within the corporate world which it probably already is. Im my opnion, if Google was to buy Ebay, Googles power and the ability to open new doors to the internet marketing business will increase enormously.

I think it would benefit both organizations if they merged. GeBay, or eBoogle. I like the first one better.

Ebay's market cap. is about $45 billion.
Does Google have that kind of money? No.

I serously doubt if google could even afford to buy ebay.
They only bought small companies so far.

I doubt money is an issue for Google. If they ever decide to make such a move, then they will have the backing of financial investors, without any questions. eBay is a sound investment and investors would definitely back Google for such an acquisition. But, I don't know if eBay would ever sell and I am not sure if Google would ever want to buy. Though, I don't see it as impossible.

I don't think an acquisition of the size of eBay is right for Google. G's growth is based primarily on the purchase of smaller companies before they take off... whereas eBay is becoming more of a mature organization. The only asset within eBay that I would be interested in is PayPal, but then Google has their own payment proccesing service now.

I don't think Google should be expanding past what they do best... paid search listings. The profit margins in that business are HUGE and everytime they move into something else they incur more overhead and decrease the company's margin as a whole. The downfall of many businesses is expanding beyond what they do best.

They also have their own video service too! But did that stop them buying youtube?

Someone said something about google buying sites before they take off.

That graph at purchasing date is far from takeoff. Thats truely in flight, 1.6billion feet in the air

Ebay owns other companies like Paypal, would be a good move but useless as they are competing.

    Peace,

YouTube has the power to challenge Google video, that's why they buy them out. But, unfortunetely they won't be able to do taht with eBay
