    Hi all,

What do you think about the rumor that google to buy digg?

It will be interesting to see what Google does with Digg and whether they are going to integrate the service with Google even more. When Google originally purchased Youtube, they didn’t really mess with it. They did include Youtube results even more in the Google Universal Search and they tried to monetize Youtube with adsense - which hasn’t been very successful till now.

I think the most interesting part would be how microsoft react if Google really buy Digg. We all know that digg monetize their website through ad partnership with microsoft.

Seems like an easy integration for Google but then again they could just start a competing service for a lot less money...

Don't you think that the amount google is offering is not the best one at this stage . I think digg has more power than this and in upcoming time they will zoom with more speed .

I dont think they will buy to be honest from what I have been told Google are putting the brakes on buying new properties for the time being.. that the jist of what the email I last got from the Google Analysts briefing.. besides Google seems to be closing in on people gaming the Digg social media space to up up their rank.

But with GooG you never know.

It will be a shame if Google does buy it. Part of Digg's charm is its independence, which is why I have kept coming back for years. Digg is great because a corporate entity does not control the stories that are there - it's by the people, for the people. On the other hand, I'm sure that Google could improve things such as search integration and the front page algorithm.

At first Digg was valued at half a billion dollars, now Google is eying Digg with $200. Digg used to run Google Adsense ad, now Digg doesn't have a real advertising model. I don't know how Digg earns money. Who clicks Digg banners, anyway?
