    Why people charge per month for this services.

    You need to get the relevant keywords in your business listing title, make sure the listing is complete and then get it on maps!

    You need to register on their website with your business details e.g location, title, description, working hours e.t.c and after which you'll need to verify your listing through your phone number.

    No Offense, but the above mentioned methods have nothing to do with ranking on G local results. That's how you create a good listing, but it doesn't mean you're going to be in top ten. That's why some people charge anywhere from $100-300/month for this service

    It's all about the "user content" and "citations". G wants to see your business details on other authority sites(citations) such as online yellow pages and also saved on a map(user content). There are a few other tricks, but these two are the most important ones.
