I have noticed a very significant drop in Google bots across over 100 of my domains. The domains are not affiliated to each other in any way. My assumption is that Google saves energy by not spidering as heavily to lower its processing power. Has anyone else noticed drop in Google bots?
I wonder if Google gonna do that. I think google gonna think more about faster indexing rather than a day or two of not letting their bots do the indexing just to lower power consumption.
me neither, maybe you should check your DNS. they may think about energy bill , but will never think about stop work one or two,
They are trying to reduce expenditures for the company. If your site is hardly updated, they will hardly visit your site. Company sites like new stations, they visit regularly. The process makes sense
I noticed that on 2 website where the bots have visited every day for the past 12 months, they still are, but instead of crawling 20/30 pages a day they are crawling 4 or 5 pages, I found it a bit strange....
I saw a significant drop - so much so that I checked the logs (to make sure it wasn't a mistake in Analytics) - dropped by about a third!
Hey felixthefire, how mamy pages does your site have? Have you noticed the same problem on other domains you own or is it just that one? Well the earth day is over , but I am still seeing same low bot numbers. And by low bots I mean from 30,000 per day down to 200 per day! This is happening across all of my sites. It can not be only couple of us who faces this “earth day†effect. Any one else out there?
I am seeing the same thing, it started around the 22nd, our biggest and oldest site went from the usual 10-30k googlebot hits a day to around 200. Never seen this happen in 9 years.
My site has about 90,000 pages but only c6,000 are indexed (its a new site) - traffic picked up today to 'normal' numbers. Whilst I know my site is being evaluated and therefore I should expect fluctuations I know that the bot activity dropped. This is beginning to sound paranoid
I got similar assets. Well, i guess this is some new google tweek. Let's see how long is it going to continue for.
I have been receiving less traffic as well, but I'm not sure why, maybe the googlebot is responsible?
I don't think Google cares about processing power, or saving energy. It's got virtually unlimited money to increase storage & processing power. If Google wants to stay on top, it needs to invest on upgrading capacity. Forever.
I think it is related to the updation. You should update your content on regular basis. May be I am wrong here. But I have not found this type of problem. Google regularly visit my site.
