Google Bot Visited My Forum 318 Times in Single Day

    Hello,

    I am owner of www.discusshub.com, today while doing my traffic analysis I saw this

    Google[Bot] Visits: 318
    Date: Thursday, February 12, 2009
    Time: 2:53:39 PM
    Visitor Loyalty: 98.6%

    is this normal for a forum Please advice

    It is normal. You can also set Google crawl rate from Google Webmasters tool for your web site.

    If you post regularly in your forum site and there are a lot of backlinks pointing to your forum site, it is normal that Google would visit your site frequently. Take note that Yahoo bot can crawl your site 10 times as often as Google, resulting to crashing your server. Block Yahoo bot.

    Yahoo bot can give a server a good hiding in some instances but I'm not too sure I would block it altogether unless you find out it is the cause of a problem on your server. Most sites still get significant SE traffic from Yahoo.
