I checked my site's database earlier and it has 1.2 million logged searches. So I noticed some spam ones and deleted all 500,000 of them (all following the same spammy pattern, containing similar words). This didn't seem so odd at the time, but then another entire pages worth of spam searches came in instantly. So I added some code to log the IP of people searching words like the spam ones i see. This gave me an ip which I assumed would be a bot, and yes, it was a bot. But not any bot, google bot. Google Bot is searching different spammy queries at least 30 times a minute. I went to the last page of logged searches, waited 10 seconds then refreshed and 4 new pages had appeared. About 1/4 to a half were spam ones which looked the same as the google ones. I'm just posting this to see if anyone has a clue as to what is going on. I'm guessing the bot is following links to the searches from somewhere but god knows where from. Should the bot even be on my site constantly, searching constantly? What a puzzle lol
Googlebots are not supposed to be constantly using your bandwidth to search your pages. You might go to Google's webmaster tools where YOU can set how much time Googlebot spends on your site.
