So a few days ago we had all our big sites suddenly make huge jumps in terms of the counts returned by a site: search. This happened to everyone with big sites I think ... increases of 100-500%. Our adsense income on several accounts have seen signficant increases in the past few days. We thought it must be due to the higher number of pages indexed, but this morning we checked our logs to see what's going on and were happily surprised. Looks like a bunch of our sites that had been banned/de-indexed in the past 18 months or are suddenly alive again and alive in a BIG way... completely indexed in g and receiving good referral traffic. Others seeing the same thing?
I saw the same. Most of my larger sites are showing at least 2 times the amount of pages they were just a week or two ago. Traffic has been up significantly as well since that happened. My de-indexed sites are still de-indexed though. Mostly aws sites (dup content) so no real shocker there.
Do you have any idea why they might have been dropped from index in the first place? Congratulations on being reindexed. Shannon
That's good to hear. I was banned, then unbanned, and I'm slowly floating about in the Googs main index. Hoping for a major return to form by the next big update.
I really don't... we initially thought a possible adsense TOS violation but it was google banning/de-indexing that happened and adsense told us there was nothing wrong from an adsense perspective. Some possible reasons (all guesses though): - The sites are huge - Many of these early sites shared IPs with each other - We had a small amount of round-robin cross site linking A->B->C->D->E->A - Much of the information in the sites would be available elsewhere on the web but not packaged/presented the same way. I guess possibly a duplicate content filter but would be very hard to believe because this isn't like aws sites that have the same descritpions on hundreds of sites. So, no .. I'm pretty much clueless as to why they were banned in the first place and why they are suddenly unbanned.
I had no idea you could be banned for "round-robin cross site linking". Is that possible? Anyone have thoughts on this?
No - don't get me wrong. I personally don't think any of the things I listed cause a ban. I was only listing anything/everything I could think of that is a common attribute of the sites that were banned and bounced back. [edit] Well, maybe lots of large sites on the same IP with the round-robin linking. Don't do it anymore so no way to know[/edit]
One of my websites is back in the index, i noticed today (not ranking though) after being nowhere since May
