Wow!! You've seen a Google maps result  hardly a loophole....anything that is typically city based will have a chance to show up in the maps search...

also they show up results for news, blogs, products, images...but its hardly a loophole considering all you have to do is use the tools and optimize it and you have a good chance of showing up above everyone.

    I think I understand now...

So if you add keywords to your Google Local listing, your Local listing will appear for that keyword?
If so, hasn't this always been the strategy?

obvious really - if you are doing anything slightly spammy or stuff you dont want google to know about then dont post them anywhere on the net - including public forums...

Guys, come on. This is old news. You can add a local business to Google Maps here:
    hxxps://www.google.com/accounts/ServiceLogin?continue=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com%2Flocal%2Fadd%2FbusinessCenter%3Fgl%3DUS%26hl%3Den-US&service=lbc&hl=en-US&gl=US

You have to verify the address with Google before being considered. They will send you a postcard to the address you post and you send it back to them.
