Very interesting indeed! So if I sat here all day and ran "site:" or "link:" queries I can knock my competition down For this to be effective they must also track IP addresses! Noteworthy kids...nice post egdcltd
Yes, that's the point I was curious about, as it seems (if true) a sure fire way to destroy your competitors rankings and site indexing.
It just so happens that yes, it is. Ouch. [feels kicked in the crotch]. I wouldn't have followed that if you hadn't recommended. Now I feel sick. That was just mean and nasty to remind me.
I'm no old pro at this by any means but I just did a backlink check on a site in one of the signatures I see a lot in this forum and they had a bunch of backlinks that point back to the posts they've made here. So, either it does seem to add backlinks or I'm missing something about forum signatures.
I have also noticed links to forums showing up when I check back links. Interesting thing is I noticed one that was from the person's profile.
I thought you meant terrorists bombing google! lol. I don't think this is right, it would be easy to take out competition that way!
Yeah, heh, I used to give Google a lot of credit, too, until they showed some shocking incompetence in a variety of areas. It's best to keep in mind that, in the end, they're just nerds who relies way too much on their programs and algos and all that other tech term nerds use.
"Google Bombing" has been around for a long time. Here's an article about it by Danny Sullivan: http://searchenginewatch.com/sereport/article.php/2164611
It wasn't actually Google Bombing. The article is entitled Google Nuking, but I was writing from memory.
Fryman, I can't be bothered to send you red for that crap but that's exactly what it is. Forum links might not pass PR (as many forum pages don't have any) but they do help - depending on what you define as help. I see forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.... listed in many a link: search - so they are doing something. I also see forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.... in my referers list , hey isn't that called traffic, isn't that one of the things this game is all about I'll take traffic from anywhere and if it comes from a link in my sig then that link has helped - albeit only a small bit. But enough small bits add up into f'in great chunk.
I noticed I have had more than 20 visits to my site from signature links. I will be happy if I get just one extra visit but 20 is very nice.
not sure if this is an example of google bombing or just a bit or a muckup in their algo, but in any case it's too priceless to be lost, so, for prosperity, bradley is proud to present: 'did you mean: catholic priest http://www.google.ca/search?hl=en&safe=active&q=catholic+rapist&btnG=Search
I made 4 google bombs a few months ago - without help of hunderts of bloggers, linkfarms etc. My client wanted to have 10 his websites for particular keyword in the top 10 places but only at 6 his websites was this KW. And he didn't give me the access to his pages. So the best solution was to increase link popularity of these 6 + create 4 google bombs (some clients domains where is not present the KW was used as the target of the google bombs). Currently, if you type into google this KW, there are 4 google bombs at the top 4 results for many months. Btw. am I the first on the internet who made 4 google bombs and without helps of bloggers or unethical methods like linkfarms?
Go to google, type "french military victories" and click "im feeling lucky" - thats a google bomb, came before the miserable failure. Same anchor on everypage of the blog - I havent read it in a long time, but I think thats how
