Google would win by the url alone. Its called must rank Coca Cola must rank first for search term 'coca cola' Pepsi must rank first for search term 'pepsi' Nike must rank first for search term 'nike' Harrods must rank first for search term 'harrods' Virgin must rank first for search term 'virgin' Why is it must rank you say? Well in order for Google to be the most relevant search engine then the results displayed must be the most relevant to the query. ergo pepsi = pepsi and must so google = google and must so must rank wins over links Peace
Were do they search that? If you are going to search for "Google" won't they know that the homepage is google.com? If they search for "search engine" then I can understand...
Yes BlueDevilMedia do you actually trust these results I got the same result when I done the search... Unfortanetly if you search for google that 641 913 is for "google" + "any other keyword", not just the keyword "google" As you know G is big and lots of people search stuff like "google earth", "google maps" ,"google mail" ,etc
Subzero, I was looking more at: engine google home page search = 7,152.6/day so obviously not everyone "knows that the homepage is google.com" BTW, do you have a source that you "trust" more than Overture?
Fact remains they are not searching this in Google, so its impossible to google bomb them then I use a combination of tools for my keyword recearch like: Alexa, Google Trends, Adwords’s traffic estimation tool, Wordtracker...
Okay, if you are going to try, might as well try with a non-Google owned page that already ranks well. The first page that is not owned by Google in the search for "google" in Google is http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Google - a PR8 page that first appears on page 3 of the SERPs. Just a thought.
It wouldn't be easy, but it is a huge search term. Not everyone is computer savvy, and it is a fast way to get to google from anywhere...I do it on occasion...
i agree and i think no one will do like this.. and i think its not possible because most people is searching to Mr. G
Oh, some of you don't know one of the oldest things non-internet savvy people do? Some people confuse the address bar, with the search bar, and they type urls, or just the name in the search box. Taken from Wordtracker, the top keywords that are sites, searched in the last 48 hours in several search engines: I never said it was just searches in Google. Your Google bomb would influence other engines too. These were unique searches, not together with other keywords like google earth.
The point isn't really to mislead people, insult google or anything like that. I just think it'd be very funny to use a google exploit against them. Not to mention it'd probably make international news just like the "miserable failure" google bomb did.
