It's never really taken off - it only really gets results when your listing is 'bumped' over to the top of the main search page.

I get most of my hits from google and google products. I also use it myself whenever I am looking for stuff online.

I have a PR3 page at guardianangelstore.com and I submit my entire products DB in tab delimited format several times a month. Our site's sales picked up so much this Christmas that it was hard to keep up. What cart engine do you use? It may take a few days for everything to get in the base. I noticed it took about a month to get all the bugs worked out and listed. It takes awhile for them to process your upload until everything is approved. I use osCommerce and it has several great contribs to help with this. I have modified my site to the max though, so I had to rewrite a lot of the code and had some problems getting into base. Let me know and I might be able to help.

I resubmitted my google base feed at the end of Nov and saw a 25% increase in google traffic directly to my product pages, as opposed to my home page and my clearance page. Yahoo and MSN have always driven traffic to my product pages if someone searched for a term in the product name, like "country quilt" always delivered "Country Manor Quilt".

Does anyone know if there is a way to automate the feed? Exporting my products, manually reformatting the data columns then uploading was a bit of a chore.

It depends on how you currently have your data stored. What ecom system are you using?

I've wanted to use Google Base for content on one of my sites, but have gone round in circles trying to implement this.

Does anyone know of any good tutorials for Google Base and more specifically something to search cooking recipes from within my site?

I think that it works great for our site: theexecutiveadvertising.com, Promotional Products.

For Example we sell promotional products like tote bags, promotional pens, coffee mugs, etc. As long as you have a searchable title and supporting short description your products should be found easliy.

A couple days ago I added 1 item to google base (I don't use 'data feeds'). Google indexed page with my product (www.google.com/base/a/4656241/D12....), I'm in 'WEB' but i'm not in 'SHOPPING', and i`m asking WHY, WHY, WHY?

    Hi

    Google base works great!

It brings lots of high quality targeted traffic.

Check if it's uploading all your feeds and if you're using the right words in your titles and tags.

Also, give it a little time : )

Google base is an effective if you want to advertise or promote your products and services. In terms of web traffic it is not quite good but in terms of keyword ranking it is much okey
