EXCELLENT point. So, AdSense ads have built-in distinguishability (because of their mark). So, what's their problem? And BTW, they have always said that ads that are close to content (in terms of color, layout, font, etc.) have better CTR. Are they backing down from that, too?
Not only is it basic, it seems like there's a lot of word garbage that Joe Schmo could really care less to read. I love Joel's Youtube videos, but his books are just weak. Top it off, some of the stuff he teaches could get people banned from AdSense.
yeah man i agree, adsense is way to complicated, no one can understand them, many times they noted me and asked me to remove ads from some sites, weather with same kind of contains they allowing millions of more sites to keep adsense, many times i reported them that u asked me to remove adsense from some sites , n gave them example with hundred of same contains sites, n what they does, after that they ban there sites
Yes, they do'nt have to worry about anything because yahoo has a hidden contract with google, it is not possible otherwise, a beta that last 3 years, yahoo never opening worldwide to go and get the money where it is? This sounds like an agreement.
I always thought it was a good strategy really. If people are just gonna blow your site off anyway then why not make a nickel for your trouble? Anything that works Google will probably get around to "banning". Who cares? Google blows.
I agree. For the most part is is so obvious anyway. Some people are really good at blending too. I get fooled once in awhile. No harm no foul really. Chances are that NOBODY will buy after clicking any ad the first time out. In reality the Adsense publisher is getting EXACTLY what they paid for... A single "what if - maybe, let me bookmark this and come back later" click through. So who is harmed here? Not a soul.
I dont think this will happen..all top earning websites are blend the Ads like anything. See ezinearticles.com thay are making $$$$ from adsense its look they blend like their content, i reported about that but no action taken still now. If they are going to ban, then all top earners will suffer, pointy Google too will suffer.
If you read here- https://www.google.com/adsense/support/bin/answer.py?answer=43869 Google themselves say- "To increase the likelihood that your readers will see and click on your ads, blend your ad units into the background of your blog. Choose a bold color for the ad title to help draw attention to your ads, then make sure that the background and borders of your ads are the same color as the background of the area where the ad is placed."
Although what I feel, a common mistake that people make is placing ads directly under a blog title which is apparently against Google's TOS. I wasn't aware of it until today, here they show an example- http://www.quickonlinetips.com/archives/2008/08/adsense-ads-below-post-title/ But if you just put 'Advertisement' or 'Sponsored Links' under the title / above the ads then you should be fine.
I have been blending ads for 5 years and that rule means zippo zero. Indistinguishable to you, is distinguishable to me, is indistinguishable to Ms. South Carolina, is distinguishable to my cat. Maybe Google should force us to install idiot meters on our sites. When a visitor is deemed and idiot Google can instantly change the ads to some horrible nasty color so the visitor will not become confused.
scubita wrote "Those fuckers keep using ads bellow titles..." Almost all the adsense ready-made sites being marketed by Gurus and pretenders are having adsense codes immediately below the title.
Few months ago, they just launch new feature... Fonts for changing the font family of the ads units to match your website contents. But now release this rules... Both are conflicted
When advertisers start complaining to Google about general trends among publishers to trick( using different tactics) users into clicking ads, Google has to respond to this and then... heads start flying off, I mean publishers get banned. Thousands of small publishers x $0.15 per day= no lost revenue for Google and prove to advertisers that Big G cares about them. Keep big fish with hundreds dollars per day in clicks= Google That is the game, like it or not.
