This is nothing just wait for 5-10 minutes try again, it should be alright. Or try to reboot your router and get a new IP? Maybe the existing one is having problem with Google.

I used to get this message in the past. It means that there are too many people with the same ip send request to google => usually when your ISP uses proxies

me too of this experience. maybe you use proxy to search.

And this search is not normal search, but you may search using services such as google trend, google keywords selection tools.

My experience of this is because i use some software to check my rankings, even though i use an old google api key google still thinks I am requesting search results incorrectly.

Like everyone else says, it will go away after a while, it generally stores the captcha completion so you are good for a few go's.

It really winds my girlfriend up though, must admit

I get this problem when I search the web from work but I must say I have never had it on my own PC
Don't think it's a big problem. At least I have not ever worried about it
I just type in the captcha and i'm rolling

    My two cents.

I got this error message from using Mozilla at work with a lot of add-ons that were always checking various statistics and such for each page return.

One search could cascade into a lot of individual requests for data from google. You figure in ten results per page of returns. Now add in the special requests for alexa ranking, page rank, y links, etc, now you're pulling data for possibly 100 or more functions in one search. Performing multiple searches with all that add-on software running was when I would get that message.

Has anyone had a similar experience to mine?

Your IP has been used to send automated queries (like web ranking software)

    - Using rank checking software
    - Using firefox addons such as SEOQuake, SEO for Firefox
    - Any program that sends automated responses to check Google.

Or, you have a virus that is using your machine to create page hits on websites to put some cash into someones AdSense account ;)

I have also experienced that one and I think my pc got some virus on it before. But right now I am using different pc so I have not experienced it again. But just log the captcha and you can do your search already.
