Is google not updating the Backlinks status now a days? Has anyone sees increase in Google Backlinks recently in his/her site?
In google webmaster tools, I see this message "Updated Sep 6, 2009" below "Links to your site". You are talking about backlinks in webmaster tools or in link: operator results ?
i believe op is talking about the link:domain feature of se's. Google doesn't updates backlinks daily for that command. It mostly does when there is pr update nearby.
Something to bear in mind is that Google often only shows a small sample of the actual backlinks it has indexed for your site. They like to keep us in the dark, somewhat.
well actually i don't see any changes in my links , since last month , but before this google regularly like to update back links after every 10 or 12 days but now they didn't update back links in last month
well it happened to me last May however, it didn't bother me. I continue to build quality backlinks to my watch so when google does it update my site went from 0 to PR4
I have a new site that I am building links for recently and I have been getting next to 0 link love from Google, no matter how good the backlink is or not. I was wondering about this as well. It doesn't deter me, I am just focussing on getting as many good backlinks as possible. Hopefully when the PR update comes, I will be rewarded for some of my work! Lol.
Same problem with me, In Webmaster tools it shows 660 links when search link:mywebsite it shows nothing wats wrong with google now a days ?
The link command has never been a great way to know of the links Google has counted for websites and instead try checking out your Google Webmaster Tools panel for the links latest stats.
i think google change is way and its has banned lots of site that selling links, I just checked few site where I bought links and they all have no cauch in google - google new law?
if Google is killing sites that sell links, then people wont be motivated to set up sites and provide content. Why dont they use laissez faire policy. Just because some site is selling links it doesnt matter to the user experience, if it is otherwise good. Google is trying to become police of the internet. This will put off a lot of small time websites who would need financial motivation to leave their sites open on the internet.
I think the result of "link:" is not accurate. It doesn't mean that you don't have any back link counted by google if there's no result being returned back.
on yahoo site explorer the back link update more frequantly and it almost the same as google webmaster tools
