Google backlinks vs Yahoo backlinks vs MSN backlinks

What is the main difference between Google backlinks #, Yahoo backlinks # and MSN backlinks #. I own a website that has around 300 backlinks showing for Yahoo, only 8 for Google and none for MSN. Website it self has been up since 2004. It makes no sense since I know that a lot of my links are placed on high PR pages, even some placed on the home pages of high pr sites and it is not showing up in Gooogle index as backlink. I am wondering if it has something to do with the way DNS server liked up with domain. If it makes any sense. Help would be greately appreciated!

If you want to check the true backlinks from Google, see them on webmaster tools.

Google only list part of your backlinks. Yahoo lists more links and msn who knows.

The Google link: operator shows the number of high quality links that point to the URL in question. The pages shown in the results are not likely to be the sources of those links. The Google Webmaster Tools links report shows a fairly complete list of all of the links that Google has seen. Keep in mind that Google is putting significantly fewer pages into its main index now than it has in the past, so links on low quality pages are often simply never seen or counted by them. And not all of the pages they do show in the Webmaster Tools are guaranteed to be helping your rankings.

Yahoo! shows a pretty comprehensive list of all of the links it has seen. However, they will show links that have been marked with rel="nofollow" or which may not pass any value for other reasons. It is useful for tracking reciprocal links, but like the Google link: operator, its best use is for monitoring the changes in the results over time.

MSN no longer shows any links data.

Google shows only high quality backlinks for your website when you are seraching link:yoursite.com. Use Google Webmaster Tools to find all your backlinks.

Yahoo shows mostly all the backlinks to your website. So earlier when GWT was not there, webmaster use to anlayse Yahoo backlinks.

MSN, earlier used to show backlinks for your website but now a days has a problem with link operator.

I would say that Google mainly shows the links to your sites from RELEVANT resources, obviously their number is smaller than with other SEs.

I think Google is too busy and like to show only link from relevant backlinks.

I will like them to show all the backlinks too.

Does anyone know of a website that will check all three and give you a output of what links you have for each?

Because if they did then all of the wannabe seos could figure out how to get to the front page of Google.

Same reason banks don't give you the combination to the vault locks.

As has been said before, google only shows a "sampling" of the links that they actually see pointed to your site. That does not necesarilly mean they dont count them. if you want to see the actual number of inbound links google can see pointing to your site look in thier webmaster tools inerface.
