Google backlinks is zero

Sorry if this is a stupid question......

My website is 4 years old, I have only recently taken an interest in link development though. According to backlink checking websites I have 25 backlinks, when I go into Google webmaster tools though I have none, why is this?

 

Try from the begging If you didn't make any mistake or blackhat method it will appear soon.

 

Ok thanks for info, no black hat method just plain old commenting, directory submissions, social bookmarking, link exchanges and some article writing.

Most visiters to my site are from link exchanges i have done with other related sites, although reading through this forum I am beginning to understand the need for a higher number of backlinks.

 

Google only recognises some backlinks as links - i'm not sure of the exact criteria but they must be unique, quality and relevant - then they will appear in Google but it does take a while for them to appear.

 

Keep on posting at DP, get a signature with an anchor text link........you'll start to see some links counted.

Meanwhile, what is being done with your "old" links. Are they just "www.yourwebsite.com" or are they like the anchor text in my siggy (below).

Google seems to like to crawl links that are in Anchor Text, with key words matching your site's content & metas.

 

Google always hide your links, and may be the links to your site according to backlink checker is 25 but nofollow..
and google never counts nofollow links....

 

To check backlinks, google is not the perfect way. Most of the links are not recognized in google such as nofollow links. I suggest you to check from several other backlink checker again. The list provides 30 free backlink checker for you.

One last question, i noticed everyone with links on their signature have different domains linked. On mine I have just linked to different pages on the same domain. Does this make a difference, am i getting 4 backlinks or just 1 even though I have shown 4 links?

 

I cant accept this as you said that the google backlinks is zero and as your site domain age is old too.Better you can use the best tool to check the backlinks.

 

Google selects the best BLs and lists only those links that it feels are important. Also, linking to a higher PR site will always be a better option, if you are looking to have PR on you site.

 

hmm no wonder not all website have backlinks

 

Right now. The only thing I know is to write good content & Get more backlink.

Hope someday my site will be in first page.
