When u search link:www.sitename.com -site:www.sitename.com U end up a with very fewer no of results (in case of mine sites), as we all know that google has a big problem with backlinks indexing for a long time now... But whats interesting is that when u search... www.sitename.com -site:www.sitename.com You end up with almost same no of results which u see by linkdomain command in yahoo which is most reliable as well...
No. Google doesn't have a problem at all with indexing backlinks. They just choose not to report them since the only people clogging up their datacenters with such search requests are going to be webmasters and self-styled SEO "experts".
well done guys i have never seen hopeless peoples in my life as i am getting to see here. I got 2 negative points for this post...what the fuck is the problem with peoples here. U might possess good knowledge but that doesnt means that other cannt ask questions or comeout with something.
Asking questions is fine. Posting things like "we all know Google has a problem with backlinks" is just dumb.
what is peoples??? anyway, first tell me what is the point of doing link:domain.com search ?? getting backlinks to your sites, right?. Now when you search for [www.sitename.com -site:www.sitename.com] it doesnt return you correct backlink results but gives you webpages where the site is mentioned, either as a link or simple text. PS: SEOINDIA, are you realy in SEO business? puffff
Just Curios about this post and when i check the links of Seoindia links on google it give me strange result. URL is searchengineoptimizer.blogspot.com Link:searchengineoptimizer.blogspot.com Give just 8 Links and the Page PR5 Is this strange? I have no idea that a site with 8 links in google have PR5. any one please explain.
Remember: 1. Google does not show all backlinks using the site: query but only a small sample 2. the PR you see on the toolbar, etc., is by now out of date - the site may have had backlinks (for example purchased links) that no longer exist - it may at the point have a reduced PR from what you are seeing
yes, and besides, Google backlinks shown while searching "link:" are not updated in real time. They are updated aprox. once a month. Therefore, you can have thousands of links that you gained during last month, and Google does see them all. However, you won't see them in the "link:" query. If you want to see more backlinks, use the same query in msn - again, you won't see them all, but they are more recent.
link:Query in google gives you a sample result of your total backlinks. if you want to know more exact figure use yahoos linkdomain:www.site.com query command.
Thanks for the info. Yeah yahoo is giving more links than google. This will help next PR Update which is likely to occur this month ?
Saying, Google has a problem with BL's is totally unfair, It's just as simple as this - google does not want anybody to know the exact figure, as it doesn't like anyone manipulating the results by using it as a basis. I use this link for checking backlinks, the msn beta: http://beta.search.msn.com And search example linkdomain:url Now, if you see a great number as 1000's, don't be happy, instead just keep click on the next page and the you will get the exact number of backlinks. The latest. Abhilash.
