Google backlink update in progress - 17 Oct 06

Yes.. another update thread!

I just checked and a backlinks update is going on. Most of the data centres are showing the new links.

You can check the results on differnet data centres using the Datacenter Quick check tool

One of the sites im working on for a client, increased from 89 to 300 links

 

anyway, google don't show all links to a page, only a part of them

 

Nothing new here.

I think you see the results from the "old" update populating to the datacenters.

 

I saw the new results about a week ago ...

 

Is it really important to check backlinks in Google? when we know that google hides data and Yahoo! displays it all

I give importance to backlinks on Google, because Google hides links for every website. And most importantly, counts only those which are valuable.

It won't count any links from supplemental results, duplicate content pages, FFA sites etc, which are available on Yahoo and MSN.

Say you are trying to rank high for the KW 'blue widgets'. You will first see the first 10 sites, their PR and their Google backlinks. Then you will see your own PR, and back links for comparison.

Since the backlinks are an indication of that site ranking high for that keyword, you need to have as many backlinks as your competition has on Google, if not more.

Thats why keeping track of the Google backlinks is really important. If your results are being filtered, so are for your competition.

 

I disagree.

For my sites, Google displays my junk BLs and hides most of the good ones. I believe that is true across the board.

So, I put no value on G's backlinks at all.

http://oy-oy.eu/google/links/ is showing me that the backlinks from the last update are across the board now... I see nothing new.

 

That's strange the backlink update was suppose to be before the PR update, not the other way around, I don't see any change as of today...

 

Hand checking, I did find that http://64.233.167.104/ is showing results from before the August 24 stalled update.

But still, nothing NEW, just old results on various d/c's.

 

I thought Google had stopped or were stopping thier back link reporting service? I use msn or yahoo to see all my backlinks now. Google hasnt upadated for so long that i cant use it as an acurate measurement.

 

agreed with mong and ameer.. me too use yahoo to get the actual backlinks.

 

the same question like the other topic.. yahoo seems to give a bigger number of backlinks than google

I don't see any backlink updates . Not that it changes anything ... The PR won't change , and SERPs update all the time anyway .

 

My backlinks in Google disappeared. I hope it is only because of update,

 

I have more backlinks....
