The other thing is when i look at other sites bakclinks often they have lniks from within there own site how is this possiple for them to link their site from their site ?? Thanks http://www.lookthebiz.co.uk - Mens designer clothing UK store
Google only updates their backlinks every few months, also they don't show all of them. If you want a more accurate listing of backlinks try Yahoo and MSN.
Its true in mine case. My new site has only 1 backlink in G. But it has more than 100s in Yahoo and MSN.
I'd suggest using Yahoo as a more reliable guide for backlinks. You probably aren't doing anything wrong - no worries.
Keep you link building slow and steady, you don't want to trip a filter or penalty. Inotelvis, alot of sites show links within site.
there are too many backlink checkers software programs - so to cut them google decided to output about 10% of all backlinks though they are still sorted by "quility" as far as I see it.
Hi thanks for your advice. can anyone tell me if i get penalised for having too many links from directories and not so many from other websites, as ive been mainly trying to get my site linked in directories and ive only got a few links from sites that have asked me to swap links with them.? www.lookthebiz.co.uk
You shouldnt be penalised. Generally no link POINTING to you should harm you. Though this is a matter for some debate as people say you can "googlebowl" your competitors out of the serps. - this takes ALOT of links though & Ive never tried it. Ideal links would be those that currently rank top for the terms you want (usually the hardest to get). Just vary the anchor text & descriptions anyway and where you can link to some internal pages too.
Gaining too many BLs too quickly will result in BLOOD (Back Link Over Optimization Devaluation) and TLD (Temporal Link Devaluation) by G. As for Y and M, they will help your site in the SERPs.
there is no evidence of this... how can you penalize someone for promoting there site too quickly; by getting links from related sites?
This is what every serious webmaster should do as part of their link building and traffic generating campaigns. Articles and press releases give you strong relevant links. I try to submit an article a week and a press release a month. Check this thread out: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=36133 ---- As far as links from within the site - you should have a linking structure within your site (on each individual page) that allows a spider to visit every page on your site. Plus, you should have a site map.
Depending on how natural the links appear too. Very popular new sites get masses of links very quickly and have no problems at all. There will always be 'news' like that that cant be penalised.
Yep. That's called 'Internet_phenomeno' in which a site gets innumerable links in a short span of time all naturally. To find out more about it, go to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet_phenomenon An explanation about Internet Phenomenon from Google Patent: [0077] The dates that links appear can also be used to detect "spam," where owners of documents or their colleagues create links to their own document for the purpose of boosting the score assigned by a search engine. A typical, "legitimate" document attracts back links slowly. A large spike in the quantity of back links may signal a topical phenomenon (e.g., the CDC web site may develop many links quickly after an outbreak, such as SARS), or signal attempts to spam a search engine (to obtain a higher ranking and, thus, better placement in search results) by exchanging links, purchasing links, or gaining links from documents without editorial discretion on making links. Examples of documents that give links without editorial discretion include guest books, referrer logs, and "free for all" pages that let anyone add a link to a document. (http://appft1.uspto.gov/netacgi/nph...&s1=20050071741&OS=20050071741&RS=20050071741) Also, you should take a look at The Sandbox, the March Filter & BLOOD vs. TLD by Rand Fishkin at http://www.seomoz.org/articles/google-historical-data-patent.php.
I have read all of that before. I have seen sites miss the so called sandbox - it is a filter you can trigger, not a default. I am looking at a site right now that appears not to be hitting any kind of issues and is 10 days old + ranking quite well since almost straight after it got indexed. Linking should be clever, using the right build up of links you can make it appear very natural looking. Of course you can overdo it. If I sitewide a new domain from every site I have control of I would expect it to be devalued. Take a look at the "ranking experiment" here - seemed to say masses of identical anchors pushed an old site up.. Also, patents dont mean implementation, patents are used often to stop competitors implementing certain features.
Hi inotelis, One of the best things a business or individual can do to promote a web site is contact a link building service. Needless to say, high-quality, relevant links are very valuable, and a solid link building campaign has the potential to have a high return on investment. Because of the importance of links in today’s search algorithms, businesses and individuals should not take choosing a link building service lightly. We follow a very natural link building process where no softwares are used and is done all manually. I'll be glad if I can be of any help. -shuchi
