I got it this morning -- Google Announces Massive Algorithm Change, Declares War On Content Farms, Including Demand Media. http://finance.yahoo.com/news/Google-Announces-Massive-siliconalley-2546818817.html?x=0&.v=6
Yip, that was always going to happen ... too much low quality content sites getting high spots in the serps. Good for the search engine user, not so good for us webmasters
Good news for search engine users, but bad news for us webmasters. My blog ranking dropped in several keywords
My blog seemed to have lost lots of traffic, too. My content is 100% unique and of very high quality, and have lots of backlinks. Hopefully this is just Google adjusting. I was getting hundreds of searches for my targeted keyword phrase, now... None! What was once on Page 1 can't be found in the top 10. One of my autoblogs, however, increased traffic about 12%. The other lost ALL traffic completely. Though I don't care about the autoblogs, I do need my primary blog to flourish, its my bread and butter and I am doing everything the right way with SEOing it.
Another update and this will surely make webmasters in headache mode. New research to improve traffic and rankings that will compliment Google's algo..
Some EzineArticles data: “acai berry†– #9 to #194 “reverse phone lookup†– #14 to #45 “penis enlargement†– #4 to #65 “article submission†– #2 to #12 “credit card debt relief†– #1 to #10
Compare searches on google.com to google.ca. Update hasn't been rolled out in Canada yet so you see some pretty different stuff.
Didn't you read his last answer? "Compare searches on google.com to google.ca. Update hasn't been rolled out in Canada yet so you see some pretty different stuff. " Good thing that spammers got hit hard.
This has been discussed in depth for several weeks now on numerous threads. Google spotted the fact that 'collaborative' spinners running in auto mode tend to introduce so many syntactical errors into the text that they are easy to catch. A quick grammar check reveals these pages are either appallingly badly written, or appallingly badly spun, and either way, they are dumped right down to the 500's. Can't blame Google for making a song and dance though, they just weeded out several BILLION shitty pages, for almost no effort because the targets effectively started wearing 'ban me' hats. You use a cheap collaborative spinner, you're wasting your time. or should I say 'That is having been chatted into the deep for many days now upon abundant strands of cloth...' (real example!!!)
What I've got going is a script that takes the alexa keywords for each site in the list, then compares the SERPs for that site on google.com and google.ca. Still no way to tell how the change works but every bit of information gets us closer.
