Google and Tag Cloud Tags

i have been using a tag cloud on my sites. Besides it looking cool, the ones I use also provide the ability to click on the words and see the articles related to those keywords.

Someone told me that they could get me flagged as a keyword spammer/stuffer.

I pulled it from one of my sites, will do the rest based on what you folks have to say.

I was worried about this too, but my blog just got updated from pr 0 to 4 and that has a tag cloud on so maybe its ok?

 

I was a one and I'm still a one. At least I exist. LOL I think I should start working the social blogs too. Some are saying it isn't a good way though. I know when I stumble one of my articles my traffic may greatly increase for a day but no one clicks on ads from that source. But if it improves PR that would be nice too. I would also enjoy more participation from visitors to my blog.

i dont see why googlel would flag you for useing tag clouds?

 

tags are the same duplicate content, that's already in your achieves, or other places, i just removed the tags cloud a few days back from my blog to prevent some more duplicate content. The funny part is that, these tags gets indexed quickly then the actual article pages

I don't think you will flagged for keyword spamming for tag clouds though.

 

I hope not anyway, it would seem a bit weird for WP etc to encourage using them.

 

There is a nice solution for if you want to keep a cool tag cloud and yet are worried about it making duplicate content. If you use the All in One Plugin it has a setting that will allow you to noindex the tag archives.

My opinion on tag links is google does not seam to mind them much on my site, it has increased in PR while using a live indexed tag cloud. I voted no on your poll!

I don't think tag cloud can cause problem.

 

You can use tag clouds in your site. But I suggest you block google from indexing the Tags via robots file.

 

Tags (and tag clouds) are meant to sort relevant articles for better navigation... which if done correctly, should be advantageous with minimum problems.

The duplicate content issue only occurs when webmasters are over-using tags... like having dozens for each article, and that most of those tags are applicable only to that particular article (which totally beat the purpose of tags).

 

YeinJee, I don't think you understand. Not talking about tags on the articles themselves.

I'm going to turn them back on and unindex them. I am all in one but I'm about to change to something else.
