It seems that there are two things going up in price, Oil and Google Every other market seems to be falling, even the Meteorite market is crashing back to earth. http://meteoritehunters.blogspot.com/ Buy low sell high is the rule in investing Should we go long on Meteorites and sell short Oil and Google
After my last attempt with adwords.... I really gave up on it. I even replaced Adsense some 1 year ago because of the dropping profits....
Come on Anthony... you were the one preaching the downfall of Google's stock. "They can never hold above $100." I seem to recall you predicting them turning into a penny stock around November (2004) when the employees options matured and they all bailed out. heh
Well they have a valuation that is sky high, look at their PE, it is the Wall Street game, Yahoo went from 20 bucks to 250 and back to 7 after the dot com bust. Does anyone really know what Google market capitalization is at this time and what their PE ratio is?
Anyone see this article? http://news.zdnet.com/2100-9595_22-5680097.html?tag=zdnn.alert Google has what Wall Street calls "first mover advantage" they also have one of the top "Brand Names" and are the #1 player in their sector. The question is when will the sell off start and when will Wall Street traders start shorting the stock? http://www.marketwatch.com/tools/quotes/profile.asp?siteid=yhoo&symb=GOOG&dist=yhoostoryprofile If anyone is interested in doing some research on Google valuation use the keywords in the following search on other engines to pull articles. http://vivisimo.com/search?v:sources=Web&query=Google+valuation+market+capitalization&x=50&y=14 Google Stock Stats 4/25/2005 Close $ 223.53 Change: +7.72 Open: 217.82 High: 224.74 Low: 217.52 Volume: 19,861,020 Percent Change: +3.58% P/E Ratio: 153.10 52 Week Range: 95.96 to 224.00 After Hours Trading 4/25/2005 6:29:00 PM Last: 224.10 Change: +0.57 Volume: 112,855
Don't forget Shawn that they had to reduce the price of the offering just to get it off, you do remember they tried to come out at $135.00 and had little demand and had to reduce the price to $85.00. There was a reason for that and it was valuation. Wall Street pushed the stock up because it is one of the only plays in town in a market that has gotten hammered since 2000. Google is one of the few bright lights out there and all of Wall Street has jumped on the bandwagon. That does not mean that they will keep riding the train and Google must keep performing or they will never be able to keep the current valuation or market capitalization. The stock market is nothing more than perception. If people *beleive* Google will do well, their stock will keep going up.
A hell of a lot of great companies get hit by selling panics, Google will be no exception to that rule. It is a matter of time before traders take short positions then get on TV and start bad mouthing the stock to make big money on the down side. That is the way Wall Street works, they all push stocks up at the same time by going long, then they take short positions and trash them so they make money on the downside also. Just out of curiosity AC (since I know you will know this), what percentage of Sergey's total stock holdings does that sale represent?
Not much, executives do it to diversify their personal wealth and to lower risk in case of a large decline in their holdings.
Thanks AC. I was just curious if you knew off hand how much of his holdings it was. I am sure baby needs new shoes. And, if he is going to keep up with the Joneses or the Allens for that matter (have you seen Paul Allen's Octopus?) then he needs to sell some stock.
You never know, just keep presenting your site and maybe the right person with money will invest Newsgirl. All you can do is put your best foot forward and hope Either that or just work hard and maybe your sites will provide their own cash flow soon PS: Chachi it is easy to figure out, just look at public reports on "GOOG" and or SEC documents and they will show the shares all insiders hold, you will find that if Larry and Sergey hold 6 Billion worth of Google stock each at it's current price then the sales were in fact small one's.
