I cant prove this but Im 100% certain that the Google search engine and the MSN search engine are linked in some way. How else can you explain this? One of my sites gets no traffic for weeks on end then all of the traffic suddenly returns both Google and MSN traffic reappear at exactly the same time. Then it happened again just recently. No traffic from Google or MSN but as soon as Google traffic comes back so does MSN traffic. Im convinced Google must have something to do with MSN. It makes no sense otherwise.
Not really sure about that, but Google and MSN is two different companies, and unlikely to be interlinked.
There could be other explanations for this. With seo there are so many factors to consider. Perhaps your site just got indexed around the same time. You could've eventually lost some rankings due to various reasons...server issues, lost links, bad onpage changes, lack of updates/links, etc. Sometimes when you get rankings you get free links from sites that display a list of top ranked websites for a search term. Then when you lose those rankings, you lose some links too.
Or is MSN just a copycat mirroring every single step the high and mighty takes? I heard a similar assumption concerning yahoo. One never knows, but if you ask me, it seems very unlikely. I second Vansterdam's idea: there are too many other factors at stake.
Yeah, It can be true, OR no, It cannot be true. Fact is, No one aside G and MSN know if they spy/tail each other with indexing and and other similar issues. I saw similar things happen to me with Yahoo/G and Yahoo/MSN, So it might be that all using similar systems (at least part of them)
Untrue about google yahoo mirroring.I have chcked my analytics when g traffice disappear cause of gd yahoo still same traffic.
Did you are saying that Google send a message to MSN telling them to stop showing your site on the SERPS? Why your site was the only one with this behavior? No, i think you are having connection troubles (your server) and that stops visitors, and as soon as the problem on your server gone, traffic came back all at the same time Its more likely this is a more credible explanation.
Google and MSN have very bitter rivalry going on between them and it is hard to fathom that they would tie up with each other in any segment. I guess your problems are related to your server inefficiency and that it's uptime/downtime is giving you the result of your search traffic from both of them, being inconsistent, at the same time. Regards, RightMan
They are not interlinked but there's a possibility that one is trying to come up with the same or copying the algorithm behavior of the other one. Of course I think Google will not do that.
I read some very interesting things regarding Google Yahoo & MSN that would suggest what with this deal and that deal that had been done over the years you might well be on to something! I have seen evidence of company buy outs and sells and other corporate things including who holds shares and how many shares in this and that that many would be deeply shocked at. Not sure where to find that info as I have a new computer and don't have all my old bookmarks but there is definately a lot to be found if you do a little digging (though saying that it takes way too much time so you might just want to not worry about it nor who owns shares on what and where and what company is behind this that or the other as it has a habit of changing as do companies names and owners and shareholders - it's all a bit of an old game!) Here is a good place to start if you fancy doing a little digging Google MSN Yahoo Alta Vista
