Why? None of the sites they distribute to are banned

Of course, they merely submit your site for you to all the other article sites (with their permission) so even if they were banned, it doesn't effect their service nor the benefit you get from it.

Thanks for the heads up mcfox :)
You can't blame them from trying to stop the scraping.

Isnare sends me lots of articles and I have not had any issues with them or my page rank at www.commandopress.com so I don't think that using their service is going to cause a problem and I have hit a PR of 3 with over 12,000 pages indexed in the last couple of months.

I hope to hit a PR of 6 within 6 more months! Maybe I'm crazy? Who knows?

    Regards,

    Rick

    No, you're not crazy. :)

I was a bit vague in my description of what happened with isnare.com.

The admin at isnare.com decided to block every robot except Googlebot, Yahoo's Slurp, msnbot, etc., from accessing the site because people were scraping so much content using their own bots.

Unfortunately, a small error at server level on isnare.com resulted in ALL robots being blocked, including Google, Yahoo and MSN, which resulted in the site being dropped from the SE's.

WebMasterWorld adopted a similar approach for the same reasons a few months ago. The difference was WMW decided to block every bot for a time while isnare.com merely made a small mistake.

Dang! I really wanted to be crazy! :D

Well, that is good to know that isnare just made a blunder and didn't do some kind of black hat seo technique. Glenn's article submissions have been an added value to my site and I am glad to see that they will continue to be so.

    Thanks!
