google and gov involvment

    I was lookning through just random domains and with the war againts terror i was wondering if google does decide to give up its information or the gov taking over it just cause its the gov can someone get introuble for holding a domain that resembles terroism or anything in that nature

    ie:www.arabterrorist.com

    Well, the government doesn't need to subpoena Google to get a list of all the domain names out there. That data is freely available from domain name registries - it's called a "zone file". It lists all the domains.

    If you have a domain like "arabterrorist.com", chances are the site has been checked out by the feds at least once. Just owning the name wouldn't be illegal, though.

    Id like to think we still have free speech where I come from...so owning a domain like that isnt illegal.

    Yeah, what you do with the domain and have on the site is the thing that matters here.
