Google and EDU links

    Hi everyone

I have added three EDU links to my site and they popped in google right away.

I was wondering how many of these things are worth getting?

I have alot of friends that can get these things for me.... I just don't want to spam

The weird thin is the pages have popped up the search engines but my site has moved very little.

Any thoughts on EDU and google would be really appreciated.

    Thanks

I have seen people say they help and some say they do not. I am sure google knows what is going on and will not give alot of Pr for them sooner or later.

They sure help as regular links. But if you are talking about extra weight just because they are .edu domains, I don't think anyone knows for sure except Google. Personally I think G is biased toward edu (and .gov) sites, because I've seen plenty of students pages with broken links and a few sentences ranked PR5+, but there is no hard evidence.

edu links will help you to get better ranking more than a normal link but nobody can give exact number for this

.edu and gov links are helpul because these sites are usually very strict about the sites they link out to...

No. PR is not based on no. of .edu, .org, .gove, etc links you. Instead it is based on the number of backlinks you have and the page rank of those linked pages.

.edu links are better than "normal" links because they are considered "trusted" and are worth getting

Google ( Matt Cutts blog ) says there is no added "weight" to edu links however my experience is that they definitely do treat them differently.

Like someone above mentioned - .edu links are good for Trust Rank and not PageRank (the two are totally different). Google 'TrustRank' for more info.

No i see lot of links from .edu domains, but no different. it is depend of .edu site internal structure and contents. if you geed link from proper .edu domain it is good , but if you get 1 page domain no.

i think no different. depend on site.

in my experience .edu or .gov links can make you site banned and more easily from google index if you use them against their guidelines
