Google and dynamic pages

I'm having a bitch of a time getting google to reindex my php dynamic pages. Googlebot comes by every day but the indexes never seem to refresh. I fed google a sitemap 3 days ago and it still has old pages.

I want to blame the lack of "last-modifed" in the headers, does anyone have any input to this?

As an expirement, I just updated my sitemap today to include the <lastmod> parameter with today's date, but that seems like a pain in the butt to refresh every day.

the sitemap thing wont show quick results. it is just in its beta stage and google still relies 99% on its conventional crawlers.

I didn't notice any effects of the sitemap for about 50 days after submitting it.

google.ca has killed all descriptions, only the urls are showing for my site now. I assume it is in a the middle of reindex. I always find google.ca is a few days ahead of google.com

We will see in a day or two.

I still don't understand how google knows when a php generated page is updated, the headers have no time stamp on them of modified date. I guess it just reads it and compares?

Google won't index your pages everyday. Some of those tags they gave are just webmasters-decorations so to say. If you have a Good PR (at least 6) then this page will get indexed everyday. If you only have PR0 and PR1 dynamic pages then it's normal behavior from G!

How about posting your url and letting us see if there's a reason Googlebot dislikes your site...

It's a PR4, has been over a year, I just recently got into the SEO thing, before I used PPC's for traffic. It went PR4 really fast, never did think twice about it, probably due to links from Yahoo groups and DMOZ.

My mission is to get it to PR6, only been doing this SEO thing for a two months now. Can't be a PR6 if the pages aren't indexed properly in google!

The site is http://www.designsbysick.com I sell embroidery designs on it. I wrote the code for the store. It was my first PHP program, spent weeks writing it. Now I can write something like it in a day, I've done so much PHP lately I find myself writing PHP in place of the other languages I code in (Lotus Script, vb) .. arg .. no semi colons ... arg .. that's a rem ' not a //

I know I messed up the titles a while back and didn't realize until a few days ago, the titles are fixed up now.

With all this "new fresh content" talk and SEO, I added some articles via RSS feeds. I added that a couple of weeks ago and Google hasn't found them yet. I was hoping the site map would sort that out.

I presume there's no problem with replicating the groups info, eg: http://www.designsbysick.com/articles/altsewingmachembroider

and I found a stack of broken links such as http://meatlovers.homeip.net:82/sickproducts?place=details+flame

    on http://www.designsbysick.com/details?dogdaze you have
    <img src="images/dogdaze.jpg" alt="$name Embroidery Machine Design"><br>

Google should find it's way through soon enough. Patience, I guess

Try adding your site to some directories and getting inbound links. Add your site to your signature... and for the sake of referrals, maybe change your domain. I'd have a hard time saying to other Mums "I've found this great embroidery site, it's called designs by sick"

Thanx for looking over the site. The groups is an RSS feed from google groups, I'm trying to use it to get more search engine traffic, it's working, 50 uniques land on those pages a day, from yahoo and msn.

The meatlovers link is my talking hit counter I wrote years ago. I can hear everything that happens on all my sites, but it seems to break browsers more often than not, I'm not returning proper headers, writen in VB. I'll get rid of it since I have the volume down here unless I'm doing a major ad campaign. Kind of cool, I tune out the genie saying "product 1", "product 2", "free pes", "store" etc but I know when somethings big is happening or somethings broken, a 5th sense?

I'm going to get rid of all the ? parameters and do 401's to better urls. I think that should wake up google to do another reindex. A lot of pages haven't been reindexed since January 2005.

    I fixed up the links, I said 401's before, I meant 301's.

I think I figured out the problem. All the pages are triggering google's duplicate content filter. That's my next project... sigh, never ending.

Well, google's got all the pages index properly, took a week. I'm sure all the little changes made a big difference.
