Google and Dropped Domains

    Hello,

I recently registered a domain and only today came to know that it was a dropped domain. It has been dropped 4 times and has history from 2005. I cannot find any details in archive.org. How do I know if the site has been blacklisted or not?

The registrar is new, host is now, ownership is new. Do you think I have a chance of being blacklisted?

Well if it is in Google SERP like site:yourdomain.com then you have nothing to worry about.

    Hello...

Buying a dropped domain isnt a bad thing providing your not trying to cheat people or google ..
    example here .. http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=1593914

what i would do is go to webmaster tools and alert them that the domain was just bought
and not sure if it was penalized before but that you are new owner and assure that the site
will be legit and to remove any penalties domain might have...

    thx

The chances of the domain being blacklisted by Google as slim at best.
If you can't find anything about the domain on archive.org and there's no references to it when doing a Google search then it's reasonable to expect that the domain simply hasn't had any websites on it, which is also why it's not indexed.

Give it a few days (or a few weeks if you're not putting much effort into getting indexed), go through some indexing techniques and if Google doesn't pick the domain up then email them.

I just set up a wordpress blog today and I see a link to my site and I went over to the site to see how that happened. Indeed then I figured out that it was an already taken domain. I wasn't aware of that. Then I checked the archive.org and all I could see are robots.txt files

The archive will update in awhile. Just work on Seo of site and links from sites that are related to yours and site should be listed in search engines.

The first time the domain was registered was back in 2005,. Then it was active in 2006 and then only in 2008
