Given the difficulties associated with DMOZ, why would Google depend on them for information? Does Google really need DMOZ?

The Google directory for one, just like the Alexa Directory. You have to be in DMOZ in order to be in either of the others. I've had problems for years, as have many others trying to get indexed in DMOZ. Google is compiking a directory based on partial information. DMOZ is unreliable and incomplete, yet Google relys on DMOZ to say who should be in their directory.

A few months ago I had asked a few questions on a DMOZ forum regarding submitting to their index. One of their volunteer editors said that I should redisgn my site WITHOUT a black background and it would better my chances. If this editor rejects all sites with a black background and another dditor rejects sites with a white background...

I just can't understand why Google would use an incomplete information source.
