The only thing that matters when it comes to Search Engine Rankings is what you have on your site (the content) and the optimization itself, not the domain name.

Regarding the users, i think it's easier to remember a name with a .com at the end if it.

I actually tend to disagree with the previous post, also .com are more intuitive for people...

It doesn't really matter but it will be better to have a .com if its available.

Domain extensions are very important to google. Starting a while ago, google started to geo-target the search results so that a .co.uk for example, would get higher position in google.co.uk and would get lower positions in the other google domains. Almost all domains are geo targeted and the .com domain is geo-targeted only for United States, like the.us, .gov, .edu, .mil and .org domains. you may change the default geo targeting of your domain by going to google webmasters tool/ site configuration/ settings (according to the new google webmasters). You may convince for yourself if this theory is true by going to google.com via a proxy from another country and searching for a word, or better, for a letter. You'll get completly different results comparing with the ones that you've got when searching the regular way, not via a proxy.

may be or may not.No body is sure. But even if the .com has a boost ,the extra boost can still be obtained thru' other off page factors.so no need to think too much about it.
