Google and Blog Comments

I know there's a lot of threads and discussions on importance of blog comments and if blog comments are important for good ranking in SERP.

It's a fact that blog comments on related and quality blogs are very helpful and certainly help ranking and there're a lot of blog comment providers even here on DP, offering blog comments on high PR page (even PR 6 and 7).

The question is - how important are the comments on high ranking but irrelevant blogs where there're lots of comments and most of them are just spam?

    Let's discuss.

It doesn't count much if its on irrelevant blogs or if there are many spam comments.

A comment on a related PR2 blog is about as good as an unrelated PR6 blog comment. Relevancy always trumps the PR of the blog, and relevancy boosts rankings. Real word comparison: Is the weight of 5 good doctors recommending a specialist the same as 5 plumbers recommending a specialist? Each link back to your website is a recommendation.

I think commenting on irrelevant blogs will give you points, but probably much less than a relevant blog.

I thinks that the biggest part of webmasters are checking comments and approving them before posting on the page. Also using no follow for situation like this. Some SEO calls this process like marketing... Maybe... but its to close for another word - spamming :)

OK. What would you prefer: dofollow PR2 comment on irrelevant blog or nofollow comment on relevant blog?

I prefer doffollow comment on relevant blog ;)
Its a very good question, I got lots of work to do in this case... If you want to make your PR grow you better pick up the choice about dofollow 2 comment but if you are looking for unique visitors - comments on relevant blogs will help much more better ;)

Why take the time to comment on either?

Dofollow any PR relevant blog pleases Google, Nofollow any PR relevant blog pleases Yahoo! Bing. Everyone is happy..;)

I would sooner have traffic from any way I can, I still do not understand why people care to much about what Google thinks?

I don't spam my website links about, but I do comment often on blogs and yes I do use software to find alot of those blogs if its a sales page website as I find quanity is far better than quality!

On a sales page Ill be happy to stick up a 1000 links in a day, if google drops me then Im dropped fairplay!

However if I am promoting my webdesign or hosting business then Ill be a bit more fussy on where I place my links or details. I don't give a flying lala about page-rank, even trying to get pagerank on my own hosting or web design business I just see the point of it. I rank pretty well on my chosen keywords as I only marketing a radius 100miles from my house and that pays my bills and mortgage with ease!

Why worry about more than traffic?

I dont take the p*ss with my promotion and stay under the google rader on whatever method I want to use.

Do nofollow blogs not have traffic then?

Ok dofollow good for ranking, but other than that is there any other reason?

I would sooner comment on a nofollow blog that has loads of traffic rather than comment on a dofollow with no traffic
