    Hi,

I have a site with over 400 backlinks at Yahoo. Google says there is no backlink for this site. Why?

    Thanks and greetings!

Yahoo counts all links, Google doesn’t count all links as valid votes for backlinks so they dont show them.

I think Google is showing only relevant back links. If you want to see your websites all back links than you have to find in yahoo. It will show you the all links and you can also export the list of your back links in a text file.

Thanks for all the good answers. I made the next observation: some sites have the same links as my site and they are counted and showed by google. Is it a matter of time till my backlinks also get counted by google?

Since Google is the 800 pound gorilla, I would focus on improving backlinks according to Google, not Yahoo. If approximately 80% of searches are done through Google, that where you efforts should be focused IMHO.

This of course assumes that you do not have unlimited time:)

It's normal as google will not show your all backlinks specially if your site is newly launched. You must to wait for the next backlinks update to see how many backlinks you have in google.

Google shows only a sample of links... log in to your webmaster tools account and you will see more links there. I have more backlinks in Google (webmaster tools) than in Yahoo.

Google doesn't show or displayed the exact number of back links that you have.

Google is pretty clear, they show backlinks that they feel are important or interesting for the webmaster/user, not all links.

Any no-follow links are automatically excluded.

I've read, though I don't know if it's true, that there's a Google sandbox effect applied to backlinks. In other words, Google waits for several months to see whether a backlink is still good before giving a site credit for the backlink.

This is inaccurate. Just because Google doesn't show all links doesn't suggest they are not considering them as votes for your site and boosting your rankings.

Google are just trying to hide what it is that their Algo see's as being important. It's very common for people to not have their backlinks show up in the Google tool but that doesnt mean they aren't being counted. Use back link watch or something similar to get a rough idea of your current back links, then just build more.

Also it can take several weeks sometimes for new back links to show up, try not to obssess about it too much and just keep on building.
