I am not sure if analytics can help you 'directly' with SEO. But they have often shown me 'profitable' keywords that I was not targeting but were sending me traffic / sales. It can give a 'direction' to your SEO efforts.
Its helpful more for marketing I think. you can see where the traffic is coming from, which pages are visited most etc etc.
