Google Analytics VS StatCounter

After reviewing tons of stat measuring software. I found Google Analytics and StatCounter to have the least reported visitors (mostly because I think it's because they are more accurate, while others exaggerate and forget cookies).

StatCounter.com and Google Analytics were able to track unique visitors at a very accurate rate. Sitemeter, awstats, are just plain horrible.

So which one is better though?

Comparing the same sites. I notice Google Analytics reports much less unique visitors than StatCounter, does that mean it's more accurate? Or does it mean they are too strict in differentiating between newer visitors?

    What do you think?

I think though StatCounter has a better interface, but if you want more than 500 logs, you have to pay (which is not bad for the free version).

I use Google analytics, and i have noticed that they report far less than the traffic i get on a daily basis. As you said, they are kind of very strict. I think that is a good thing.

As for now they are my favorites so i am sticking with them

analytics is very accurate (does not count bots, scrapers, etc - only real people).. i think it also provides way, WAY more analytical features - different ways to view/compare/analyze your traffic.. IF you can figure out how to use it.

Analytics is more technical than it needs to be. Statcounter does a good enough job with unique frequencies, keywords and so on. I use both anyway.

I couldn't tell you, you are right though and I actually use them both. I would just use google anaylitics, but with stat counter I can click on most recent search terms and when I click on the term it will show me the serps page. I really prefer using both:)

They are both great, but they are also both suited for different purposes. The main advantage of SC is that it providers real-time updates, but Google Analytics provides more detail in the reports.

i will still go for statcounter as they provide the real time visitor, the recent keyword, google analytic is a bit too technical, and it takes times for G. Analytic to give out your reprot, while statcounter gives out ur reported needed immediately, using both is okay.

I use analytics because I have a wierd theory that the more google products you use, google may give you an advantage..... 100% conspiracy but I dont want to find out otherwise :)

    lol @ conspiracy.

Problem is, I hate the interface of Analytics, they make you click like 20 buttons just to see your stats and recent keyword activity. Statcounter is just simple and fast.
