I have noticed that a lot of websites around use sitemetter for traffic analysis. I`m thinking that for a fresh start, when you don`t have lots of visitors, not that many backlinks and maybe your website is not performing because some usability issues there is better not to let Google have all this info on their side. What do you think?

Google does not use information from Analytics to affect your rankings. So, it is safe to have GA installed even on a new site.
