I've read a number of threads about using one tracking program vs another to monitor conversions and other useful information on your website. I've only had the oportunity to try a couple of them, specifically, Google Analytics and Hitbox Professional. What are some of the other tracking programs out there that are worth mention and what is your take on them as far as accuracy of data?
There are more established tools than Google Analytics like Omniture and Clicktracks. They are too expensive to be considered for small business owners or individual webmasters. I haven't used them personally, so please don't ask for more details. I hope this helps. Cheers...
off topic, but I noticed that my Hitbox stats are about half of what my Analytics is reporting in nearly every overlapping category. However, both use Javascript/cookies to monitor individual users navigation. In fact, I even have more filters on Analytics than the other... I guess I'm a little thrown as to why there is such a large discrepency between similar programs, which was the original motive for this thread.
I'm getting ready to move away from Google Analytics and to start using IndexTools. I've been using IT for a couple months now as a trial and I really like it.
i wonder if there is a trend with using google analytics to monitor traffic through one's site, especially through the use of google adwords... i would think that the two programs are designed to work with one another as opposed to a third party application trying to determine statistics like keyword traffic. has anyone noticed a steep drop in numbers using a third party app vs the results from google analytics?
I Used Google Analytics before .. a Good program , but although there's an Arabic Tracking Program website called " ratteb " which is something like google analytics but to my information it was created before google analytics .. and believe it or not its More accurate than google and much cooler than google analytics in different elements and ways in my opinion , which is programmed by a famous arabic programmer called " internet plus "
I use Google Analytics for all my sites. I also use StatCounter but prefer Analytics as it is free and gives detailed information on visitors etc. The only downside to it imo is that they update once every day so you can't see real time stats like you can at StatCounter. Other than that I will carry on using Analytics for all my sites!
I wont use Analytics, Google "CNStats" its real time and far more comprehensive. They have an online demo.
I have been using Google Analytics for the past 8 months and like it. I have used Omniture in the past and it is nice. But, it is spendy.... For being free, I think Google Analytics is the way to go.
And why would i be joking? Have a look at the demo and tell me what's so wrong? That's the Standard version, and i use the Pro. It provides real time monitoring, track users across your site, users online now etc.
I will always use Analytics. It's a good tool, easy to use, pretty accurate (not 100%, it's never 100% lol). Besides, I got to use to Analytics to switch to anything else..
I think that even for a medium sized site GA is good enough. As a poster above mentioned earlier, if you have an adwords campaign running through the same account then GA automatically tracks that. The one thing that annoys me about GA is that you cant get conversion data from a particular page, e.g % of people who visited this page went on to buy.
