Dear forum mates, Recently I started analysing the unique ips and visitors who come to my site in comparison with GA data. I should say that the difference in data is really astonishing... GA counts only 50% of the traffic registered by my server(talking about unique ips). Why does it happen? Is there some special ip counting system used by google, which filters ips? Or there is something else.. I think that google counts not much traffic just not to pay a lot for the ad spots on the site... It uses a kind of trends system which approximates the traffic data and the numbers are not actual... What do you think about it? Who else tried to check Google data? Thanks.
I think you're right, jayw1988. GA tracks visits from browsers. If a bot visits your site, GA wouldn't count it.
Yes, server data will always be wrong. Google analytics or statcounter data would be correct. This is because server logs are hits and stats from tools are unique visitors.....
I think Google Analytics is pretty accurate. Its great for learning so many things about how your visitors interact with your site.
Have you heard about Adjuggler engine. It is used by advertising agencies to count and serve traffic, it's data is also really accurate and has a lot of anti-fraud options. Take a look at their site if interested. So... the numbers in GA and Adjuggler are also differ. AJ doesn't count bots or any kind of suspected traffic...but still GA shows over 70% of what AJ detects. I bet GA has some lacks... Unfortunately no one wants to analyze GA data
